The joint test for the second-stage rocket engine of ZQ-2 liquid carrier rocket completed successfully

Between November 13 and November 17, LandSpace completed the joint test of the second-stage engine for the ZhuQue-2 (ZQ-2) rocket. The engine was a combination of a Tianque (TQ) 80t-thrust-level and a 10t-thrust-level LOX+LCH4 engine.

ZQ-2’s second-stage propulsion system adopted a configuration of“80t+10t”. Specifically, one TQ-12 80t engine (main engine) and one TQ-11 10t engine (vernier) were combined, and they shared the control module and the blowdown module. TQ-12 provides the main propulsion in the flight phase of the rocket’s second stage, while the TQ-11 powers the attitude control and the precise injection of the rocket’s second stage.

This round of tests was conducted on November 13, 15 & 17 respectively. It was the first hot-fire test run following the combination of TQ-11 and TQ-12. During the tests, the feasibility of ZQ-2’s second-stage engine system and the assembly program, and the coordination between the main engine and the vernier engine were assessed; the startup and shutdown procedures of the second-stage engine were verified; the thermal environment parameters of the second-stage engine were obtained, and the thermal protection program of the second-stage engine with the vernier in sway was assessed. The combination ratio of the engines was continuously regulated within a certain range for more precise data available to the overall flight assessment.
